Training
Orientation Training
At the project kick-off meeting, a one-day session is provided for orientation to the transportation management solution. At this session, the trainer reviews the steps involved in setting up the transportation management solution. This session is devoted to the individuals that will be setting up the system. It is recommended that all key users attend this session. The key user group should consist of eight users or less and should represent the various responsibilities of the transportation management department.
Key User Training
Key User training is intended for the core group of people who will be on the implementation team. The objective of this course is to provide key users with the skills and information necessary to make decisions and perform all system set-up processes. This session is a complete detailed review of the steps involved in setting up the transportation management solution.
Technical Training
Technical training is intended for the database administrator and technical support personnel. It is typically an informal session provided at the time of software installation.
Application Training
This key user training session focuses on the use of the system after set-up decisions have been firmed up.
End User/Operator Training
AssetWorks on-site end user training is adapted individually for each user group (shop supervisor, inventory clerk, mechanics, motor pool clerk, etc.). The specific functions to be taught by job function are determined during the workflow analysis. End user training is designed to teach job specific functionality and provide an introduction to the powerful query and reporting capabilities provided by the transportation management solution. AssetWorks recommends a "train the trainer" approach for end user training. AssetWorks assists with assembling the training materials and conducts the first sessions. Customer personnel conduct subsequent sessions, and these trainers typically comprise the key user group. This approach ensures that the client has the expertise necessary for ongoing training and internal support.
Follow-up Training
This phase typically occurs one to three months after going into production with the transportation management solution. Many questions arise after users have had an opportunity to work with the system, develop system procedures and more clearly identify reporting requirements. This phase is optional, depending upon customer needs.
